NEW EASTERN TUSCALOOSA COUNTY SHERIFF SUBSTATION

The new substation will offer expanded service to all of central and eastern Tuscaloosa County and will be embedded within the new Recreation Center offering additional security for the elementary school and the public who will use the facility. It will also:

• Allow citizens to meet with deputies in a more accommodating place.
• Provide a secure area where deputies can meet with victims and witnesses.
• Permit access to technology where critical paperwork can be transmitted instead of deputies
  having to travel out of the area to deliver paperwork to the sheriff's office.
• Allow quick access to all gateway roads into and out of eastern Tuscaloosa County.
• Be positioned to provide backup for serious crimes for law enforcement agencies in Coaling Brookwood, Lake View, Woodstock, Vance and unincorporated communities.
• Promote community policing by having deputies in the same building that is being visited by the public creating interaction and information exchange.
• Have a fueling station, saving time because deputies and public works will not have to drive to Cedar Cove thereby leaving the area uncovered by patrol or county services.
